Founded in 1994 and based in New York City, Apogee Design & Construction has built an excellent reputation in servicing the needs of industry-leading companies, welcoming each challenging project with the same determined attitude, and always producing a spectacular finish. A wide array of project management, construction, and consulting services are offered in order to establish, maintain and nurture lasting relationships with clients from Day One.

BIOGRAPHY

CEO

Thomas A. Calamari

In his 23 year career Tom has worked with some of the top rated architects and construction teams. He started at the bottom as a laborer, sweeping houses as an after school job and has progressed to running projects totaling 10s of millions of dollars. If you ask him what the key to success is, he will say, “You need to love what you do. Be honest. Be competent. And it will be returned to you.” His experience has taken him through a vast array of projects ranging from residential homes, medical facilities, corporate offices, and high-end luxury retailers. Prior to establishing Apogee Design & Construction in 1994, Tom served as a Sr. Project Manager for JT Magen where he specialized in medical facilities and office space projects. As he progressed he moved more toward high-end commercial fit outs and specialty projects. He is a graduate of Pratt Institute with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture. He also holds a Master of Science in Urban Design and Architecture from Columbia University.

Principal & Chief Estimator

Alan Kenny

In 2012 Alan took on the role of Principal and Chief Estimator with Apogee. Alan brings to the team over 17 years experience in construction where he brings a wealth of knowledge for estimating, budgets, cost analysis, and value engineering. He started his career with Rider Hunt International in their Los Angeles office. Later he moved on to Structure Tone and then to JT Magen, spending 13 years as a Senior Estimator covering a wide range of projects, from new construction, high-end interiors, data centers, healthcare, retail and corporate offices. He holds a BSc Degree in Construction Economics and Quantity Surveying.
